Dear Team,
As many of you transition to new smartphones, it's crucial to ensure a seamless and secure transfer of your Microsoft Authenticator app. This is vital for maintaining access to our systems without interruptions. To avoid issues encountered previously, where multiple instances of Authenticator were found across different devices, please follow the detailed steps below:
Before You Start:
- Ensure your old device is still accessible and the Authenticator app is functional.
- Install the Microsoft Authenticator app on your new device from the respective app store.
Transfer Process:
1. Open Microsoft Authenticator on your old device.
- Tap the three dots in the top right corner and select 'Settings'.
2. Select 'Cloud Backup' in the Settings menu.
- For Android, this might be under 'Backup and Restore'.
- On iOS, ensure you're signed in with your Apple ID and iCloud Keychain is turned on.
3. Initiate a backup.
- Follow the prompts to back up your accounts. You might need to sign in with your Microsoft account if prompted.
4. Move to your new device.
- Install and open Microsoft Authenticator on your new device.
5. Choose 'Begin Recovery'.
- Use the same Microsoft account used for the backup on your old device.
6. Complete the transfer.
- Once authenticated, your accounts will start to appear on the new device.
Important Notes:
- Remove Old Devices: Once the transfer is successful, please ensure to remove the Authenticator app from your old device to prevent any security risks.
- Single Device Policy: To maintain security integrity, please refrain from having Microsoft Authenticator active on multiple devices. Our policy mandates one device per user for Authenticator purposes.
- Assistance: If you encounter any difficulties during this process or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to the PCSupport immediately.
Thank you for taking the time to securely manage your authentication tools. Your diligence greatly contributes to our collective cybersecurity efforts.
