Quick Troubleshooting Tips for Monitors, Docking Stations, and VOIP Phones

We've noticed recurring issues related to monitors, docking stations, keyboards, mice, and VOIP desk phones. Often, these problems can easily be resolved without replacing hardware. Please follow these quick troubleshooting steps before reaching out to IT:

Docking Stations, Monitors, and USB Devices:

  • If your monitors, keyboard, mouse, or docking station are unresponsive or behaving erratically, perform a power cycle:
    1. Disconnect your laptop from the docking station.
    2. Unplug the docking station's power cable from the electrical outlet.
    3. Wait about 15 seconds, then plug the docking station back into the power outlet.
    4. Reconnect your laptop to the docking station.

Laptop Maintenance:

  • Please restart your laptop at the end of each workday or at least once every couple of days. Regular reboots help prevent many common software and hardware issues.

VOIP Desk Phones:

  • If your VOIP phone is not functioning correctly:
    1. Locate the network cable (POE line) at the back of the phone.
    2. Unplug this cable, wait about 15 seconds, and then reconnect it.

These simple steps resolve the majority of the common issues reported, saving valuable time and preventing unnecessary hardware replacements.

If you continue experiencing issues after following these steps, please don't hesitate to contact PCSupport@vantageapparel.com for further assistance.
